Well, we all either saw or heard the 22 year old Jon Jones defeated UFC Veteran Brandon "The Truth" Vera Sunday night on Versus. It was a bummer, but that's it happens.....
We would have loved to see Brandon smoke Jones like a joint....didn't happen.
Just within the 1st round, while Vera was in guard, Jones was able to land a huge elbow that gave Brandon his injury.
The strike caused three fractures in Vera's right cheekbone, the fighter's manager, Matt Stansell, today told MMAjunkie.com.
"The whole right side of Brandon's face was numb," - said Stansell
Stansell also said that as Vera will see a facial specialist this week, and his return to the octagon is unknown.
We wish Brandon Vera a quick recovery and will be excited to see him get back in the octagon!

Pretty interesting fight. Surprised that Jones shot on Vera so early. Dont know whether it was respect for Vera's striking or disrespect for Vera's ground game. Both are accomplished wrestlers but on the other hand, both are versatile strikers that have built their ufc careers standing up. Jones extended his arms quite often, Vera had position but never pulled the trigger on the arm bar. Dont know why he hesitated... Either way, Jones is coming up fast and Vera is doing the opposite.
