No UFC for Fedor! Bummer.....
First of all, what's with the hand wrap in this picture? .....that's weird.
Soon after the LA Times reported that Fedor Emelianenko was to begin negotiations with UFC and have the deal finalized and announced on Friday, it is now reported that there will be no deal!
Fedor and his manager apparently won't sign a deal with exlusivity conditions (meaning, they want to do a co-promotion, to also put on the events with M-1 Global, of which Fedor and his manager are part owners).
The UFC typically will only sign a fighter under an exclusive contract for a number of fights, for certain pay amounts per fight, win, etc. They have also said they won't sign a fighter who works with EA sports......of which, Fedor is their new poster boy.
According Bloody Elbow, this is what the UFC offered Fedor,
- The UFC offered Fedor a 6 fight, 30 million dollar contract. That's 5 mil a fight!
- The UFC offered Fedor an immediate title shot
- Lesnar/Fedor would be the biggest PPV in MMA history (assumed), and the UFC offered M-1 Global a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's purse.
- Fedor was free to wear as many M-1 logoed items as he wished.
- The UFC also would allow Fedor to compete in combat sambo.
After this deal was offered, M-1 still refuses to sign unless the UFC agrees to co-promote.....crazy effin Russians!
