NEWARK, N.J. -- Despite the fact that Nate Diaz looked great in his welterweight debut at UFC 111, the Stockton, Calif., native told MMA Fighting following his win over Rory Markham that he was "probably" headed back to the lightweight division.

UFC 111 BONUSES!

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the East Coast on Saturday for UFC 111, featuring two title fights before a raucous crowd at The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

Shane Carwin not only walked away with the interim UFC heavyweight title and a shot at current champion Brock Lesnar’s title in July, he also earned the Knockout of the Night bonus of $65,000.

He devastated former champion Frank Mir with uppercuts, dropping him to the mat, before following him down with several more blows that ended the fight in devastating fashion.

Lightweight contender Kurt Pellegrino racked up his fourth straight victory by submitting Fabricio Camoes at UFC 111. He escaped a near submission in the early moments of the fight, but turned the tide and cinched on a fight ending rear naked choke on the Royler Gracie trained Camoes in round two. The submission scored him a $65,000 bonus check of his own for Submission of the Night.

The Fight of the Night went to two upstarts in the promotion, Jared Hamman and Rodney Wallace, who battled it out on the preliminary portion of the fight card. The two put on an exciting back and forth battle with Hamman using his striking to edge out a unanimous decision.

Getting ready for UFC 111!

Thiago Alves broke his dome....no UFC 111 for him!

We knew he was crazy, but had no idea he injured his dome!

Thiago Alves has been pulled from his fight against Jon Fitch at this weekend's UFC 111 due to a CAT scan that revealed issues that could not be resolved in time for him to receive medical clearance for licensing.

Alves' removal from the card was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by the UFC, and sources close to the fighter on Thursday. The report first surfaced on TMZ.com (we hate TMZ).

According to sources, Alves had a pre-fight CAT scan that revealed a potentially dangerous issue with the fighter's brain, and while doctors were reviewing the issue, he could not be cleared in time to fight at UFC 111.

Alves had already made the trip to New Jersey for the fight, but will now seek out a specialist to try and see if the issue can be resolved. Sources have indicated there is a possibility the UFC may move the fight to the Charlotte, N.C., card coming up on March 31, but at this time it's only speculation until Alves can be cleared medically.

Alves and Fitch were set to rematch from a fight the pair had in 2006 with Fitch coming out on top by TKO.

A lightweight bout between Kurt Pellegrino and Fabricio Camoes (San Diego local) will replace the Alves vs. Fitch bout it on the UFC 111 live broadcast, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.

UFC 101 Predictions

Here is where we say who we think will win.

First of all though, Dana White will probably announce Tweeto Whortiz and most of the Affliction Fighters that have now signed with the UFC. Tweeto will probably be brought in the octagon and Tweeto can say something inappropriate, call someone out with his little girly voice and proudly display his trophy pornstar girlfriend. Awesome.

Ok, on to the predictions. Let's start from the bottom of the card, on up!


1. Jesse Lennox vs. Danillo Villefort - This is both their 2nd fight in the UFC. They both fought no-namers for their first fights, but Villefort looks tougher, so let's go with that one!
2. George Sotiropoulos vs. George Roop - Georgy boy reminds me of that politician that used to hang out with Bill Clinton and George Roop used to work in a Pharmacy. Um....we don't care who wins.
3. Matthew Riddle vs. Dan Cramer - Mr. Riddle looks like a little boy and the only homosexual UFC fighter in history! Dan Cramer however seems to be well rounded and extremely agressive. We think he'll own the Chip n Dales dancer.
4. Thales Leites vs. Alessio Sakara - This should be a fight to watch! Alessio Sakara, hailing from Italy is a tough competitor but can be overcome. Thales Leites, although coming from a loss to Anderson Silva, we think will beat Sakara within the first 2 rounds.
5. Tamdan McCrory vs. John Howard - huh?
6. Shane Nelson vs. Aaron Riley - Aaron Riley looks like a pedophile. Nuff said.

Main Event Fights:

7. Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pellegrino - Talk about two explosive fighters! Pellegrino, coming from the Jersey Shore (fo-get aaabout it!) has a great ground game and good on his feet, but we're claiming Josh Neer will take the fight at either referee stoppage within the first 2 rounds OR he will go the distance and he'll win the split decision. Tough one to call!

8. Kendall Grove vs. Ricardo Almeida - We're hoping Kendall Grove will take this fight. Most likely, it will go the full distance and he'll win by split decision.

9. Amir Sadollah vs. Johny Hendricks - Why are these guys in the main card????

10. Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin - Alright......we hope Forrest can pull it off! He has never been a technician, but has improved tremendously. His biggest asset is his heart. Unfortunately for him though, we think Anderson Silva is too technical and well rounded for him. Forrest won't give up, but will take an ass whoopin like he's never received. This is a hard fight to say how it will end, but Anderson Silva will take it. (hope we're wrong!)

11. BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian - Although BJ Penn has been portrayed lately as the "bad guy", BJ is an incredible well rounded fighter. We were watching BJ back when he had hair. Kenny Florian - uhhhhhhh, is losing! Although Kenny Florian is a crowd favorite and really is a great athlete, BJ is going to catch Florian in either a technical lock or win by referee stoppage!

This should be an exciting UFC!
